Oyster 565 moves closer to spring launch

Oyster is proud to announce that the first Oyster 565 is set to launch in April 2019, ready for delivery to her expectant British owner.

With the interior of the new Oyster 565 nearing completion, their dedicated team is now in the process of varnishing the handcrafted interior. The upholstery is also in progress, while the mast and rigging are being manufactured ready for launch. So what’s still left to be done? Debbie Scougall, Project Manager for this yacht, says: “Next phases in the yard are completing the deck, fitting out the lazarette to maximise storage for all the essentials needed for ocean cruising, re-assembly after varnishing and then an extensive period of engineering and electrical testing before she leaves to be launched in Ipswich.” With only a few months to go, it’s all hands on deck at Oyster.

The owner has chosen cherry joinery for his 565 from the beautiful selection of materials, based on his love for the character of the wood and the way that it gradually changes with time. This Oyster 565 will have black accents in the cabin doors, handles, soft furnishings and selected fabric panels on the bulkheads to soften the look.

Why the owner chose the new Oyster 565 sailing yacht

Having owned several sailing and motor yachts in the past, and with extensive sailing experience in both the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, this owner chose to invest in the first Oyster 565 as she’s the perfect yacht for him to sail shorthanded. After handover, he plans an extended cruise in the Pacific. As such, he has equipped the yacht with dive gear and a compressor for exploring both above and below water, and infrared camera to aid navigation in areas that aren’t well charted or buoyed.

About the Oyster 565 blue water sailing yacht

The Oyster 565 is an exciting new blue water sailing yacht. Part of the ‘G6’ generation of six Oyster sailing yachts, she uses the latest generation of Oyster hull shapes, developed with Humphreys Yacht Design and is designed for friends-and-family sailing without the need of professional crew. Developed from years of experience building over 120 Oyster 56 and Oyster 575 sailing yachts in the 60-foot range, and with features from their larger yachts, the 565 provides a fourth cabin that can be used as a utility space or for an extra bunk making her perfect for extended periods away from the shore. Matching the headroom and bunk lengths of larger Oyster sailing superyachts, she makes excellent use of her 60-foot space.
