Oyster’s first 885GT under construction

The first of Oyster’s new ‘Grand Tourer’ model, the Oyster 885GT, has gone into production.

Said to be inspired by the classic automobiles of the 1950s, designed for effortless driving over long distances, the new model aims to combine luxury with sailing performance.

Available in two colour schemes, the 885GT will feature the Oyster signature low-profile deck saloon with dark wraparound windows.

Although designed for living onboard for extended periods with all the comforts of home, Oyster says the yacht has been optimised for fast, comfortable passage-making, with every aspect of performance  considered. Highlights include a custom T-keel with cast bronze fin and lead bulb and light-cored joinery to reduce overall weight.

Additional features have been incorporated into the 885GT design, to further enhance her sailing capabilities and performance, including a taller carbon rig with SCR rigging, which will offer further weight savings and allow an increased sail area for added power.
