The Palma International Boat Show opens today in Mallorca, Spain, marking the start of the Mediterranean’s nautical season.

Running for four days from 30 April to 3 May, the event features two exhibition zones: the traditional Moll Vell site and a newly introduced 5,000-square-metre area at the Club de Mar. Organisers say this new location has been added in response to increased demand from businesses seeking to participate.

The show, which is organised by the Regional Ministry of Business, Employment and Energy through the Balearic Islands’ Regional Development Agency (ADR Balears), alongside the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA), is also accommodating a wider range of yachts and exhibitors this year. The new Club de Mar site includes berthing for vessels between 40 and 100 metres, primarily sailing yachts from single-model shipyards. On land, supporting industries such as naval engineering, yacht construction and interior design are also being represented.

A shuttle service connects the two exhibition zones via a five-minute boat ride. In total, more than 280 companies are taking part, with average annual attendance figures typically hovering around 30,000 visitors. According to a study by the Government of the Balearic Islands, the show generated an economic impact of €20.1m in 2024. Organisers say the show also contributes to the de-sensationalisation of local tourism and boosts income across the hospitality, retail, and transport sectors.

The show officially opened at midday local time, at the main entrance of the exhibition centre. Product presentations began this morning with brands including Windy Boats, Say Carbon Yacht and Sacs Tecnorib exhibiting new models. Lusben, the refit division of the Azimut-Benetti Group, is also participating in the Palma International Boat Show for the first time.

Further events taking place today include a round table on nautical training in the Balearic Islands, the visit of attendees from the Balearic Yacht Forum, a demonstration of the Girbau Boats App by KBA Safety First, and an evening wine tasting hosted by Marina Badalona.

The agenda for the week includes several industry-focused events. Yesterday, on 29 April, the Balearic Superyacht Forum opened with the theme “The future of marinas & operations in the Mediterranean” at Palma Auditorium. The forum continues today (30 April), alongside other activities such as a conference titled “The Nautical sector, a sea of opportunities”, a presentation of a guide to good environmental practices for nautical facilities, and a round table on sustainability. Student groups are also scheduled to tour the showgrounds.

On 1 May, events include a morning gathering with the Nautic manager team and a booth presentation by Marina Badalona. Friday (2 May), features presentations on the Rei en Jaume Regatta, the ICOMIA/IFBSO Congress in Palma, and the Teconaut Project. Additional presentations include the Illes Balears Regatta, Marivent Yachts, and the Marcial Sánchez Barcáiztegui Award. Students from 4th ESO and high schools are also scheduled to attend.

The programme concludes on 3 May with a morning keynote session in Superyacht Square.

Organisers say that activities across the week aim to engage a diverse audience, including professionals, students and general visitors, with a focus on sustainability, innovation and regional development within the sector.
