Princess Yachts partners with Plymouth Argyle FC

Princess Yachts has announced a new partnership with Plymouth Argyle FC, Plymouth Albion RFC and local charity Plymouth Children in Poverty.

The British motor yacht builder, which is based in Plymouth, says it’s seeking to engage with its local community and provide new opportunities for its employees through its new partnerships.

The partnership with Plymouth Argyle, a local EFL League One football club; and rugby union club Plymouth Albion, will provide employees with discounted tickets, matchday sponsorship and activities for both employees’ children and young people in the Plymouth area.

Plymouth Argyle will offer over 1,000 opportunities for Princess staff to attend matches, they will host team-building activities with employees, and provide mascot opportunities and places at half term courses for Princess employees’ children.

Through the partnership, over £5,000 will also be generated for local charity Plymouth Children in Poverty (PCIP) in addition to 150 team shirts being donated to local school and football youth clubs.

“We are delighted to welcome Princess Yachts to the Argyle family, and we look forward to working together in the months ahead,” says Plymouth Argyle CEO Andrew Parkinson. “Not only does this partnership offer traditional commercial opportunities through ticketing and branding at Home Park, but the involvement of our [Argyle Community] Trust also ensures a rounded and community-focused approach to the partnership.”

Graham Maxa, chief financial officer of Princess Yachts, says: “During 2021, a working group was formed with representatives from both Princess Yachts and Plymouth Argyle to explore a staff engagement programme. The team have since constructed a range of opportunities that will initially aim to target over 1,000 of our employees and their families. As a keen football supporter, I would like to see this as the starting point for developing a longer-term partnership.”

As part of the new partnership with Plymouth Albion rugby union club, Princess Yachts will sponsor coaching, match day events and summer clubs for local children and feature as a sponsor on the front of the Albion Women’s Team shirts.

By working with Plymouth Children in Poverty, Princess Yachts says it will be investing back into the community by providing opportunities for the young people of Plymouth through careers events and sponsored sporting opportunities such as ‘Super Saturdays’ and summer camps with both Plymouth Albion and Argyle.

Princess Yachts’ legal counsel, Tom Lea, will also be sitting on the Working Group for PCIP to provide a direct conduit between the two organisations.

To celebrate the launch of the partnership, Princess Yachts’ hosted Plymouth Argyle, Albion and Children in Poverty at their Princess Exclusive event, held last week at Royal William Yard in Plymouth.

Adrian Bratt, director of Princess Yachts says: “This week has seen Princess Yachts very publicly show its commitment to Plymouth. The announcement of these critical local partnerships provides further demonstration of our support for both our employees and the local community now and into the future. We are delighted to be able to engage so proactively with the city.”
