Pro-Set Formulated Resin Systems (PFRS) has made several senior leadership appointments as it expands its operations in speciality coatings, adhesives, sealants and composite resins.

Michigan-based PFRS develops formulated material systems and coatings used in sectors such as marine, aerospace, defence, transportation, recreational vehicles and industrial manufacturing.

The changes to the firm’s leadership include the permanent appointment of Pete Hughes as president, the promotion of Tom LaBelle to vice president of formulated composite systems, the appointment of Randy Brady as vice president of formulated coating systems and business director, and the appointment of Ryan Senciboy as chief financial officer.

Hughes takes responsibility for platform strategy, operations and mergers and acquisitions across the company portfolio. The position carries full profit-and-loss responsibility and oversight of operational scaling. He previously served as interim president during a transition period when operational and strategic structures were being established.

His background includes engineering studies at the United States Naval Academy and time as an officer in the US Marine Corps. Most recently, he worked on Iron Path Capital’s full-immersion operations team, supporting portfolio companies in operational development and value creation.

“Pete has led this business with clarity and conviction since day one,” says Ted Clark, executive chair of Pro-Set Formulated Resin Systems. “His ability to assess complex businesses quickly, build the right teams and execute against a clear value creation thesis is exactly what this platform requires as we continue to grow. We are fortunate to have him leading the organisation.”

“I am honoured to take on this role permanently and proud of the strong foundation this team has built,” says Hughes. “We have an exceptional group of people, differentiated technologies and a clear path forward. I’m excited to continue building a high-performing organisation that delivers for our customers and partners around the world.”

LaBelle assumes responsibility for the composite resins strategic business unit in the Americas. The position includes oversight of commercial strategy and operational performance for that segment.

LaBelle has worked across composites, transportation and advanced materials sectors. His experience includes roles at Sika, Henkel and LORD Corporation, where his responsibilities covered technical sales, product development and business development.

“Tom has been a driving force in our commercial momentum at Gougeon Brothers,” says Hughes. “This promotion reflects both his results and our confidence in his ability to lead the full business. Giving Tom clear business ownership strengthens our decision-making agility and deepens accountability, both of which are essential as we scale.”

Randy Brady joins the organisation to lead the speciality coatings business unit following the acquisition of Universal Chemical & Coatings (Unichem).

The firm says its move into coatings extends its materials offering into adjacent product categories used in industrial and aerospace applications. The coatings segment now sits alongside the company’s existing adhesives, sealants and composite resin activities.

Brady brings experience in product development, sales and general management within the speciality coatings sector. Earlier roles include positions at DuPont, PPG, Sherwin-Williams and Deft.

He will oversee the integration of the coatings business and the management of the related product portfolio. His remit includes product development, market expansion and commercial operations within the coatings segment.

“We are confident that Randy is the right leader to build this coatings business,” says Hughes. “His technical credibility in speciality coatings is matched by his commercial instincts and general management experience. He brings the industry depth to accelerate Unichem’s growth and position PFRS as a serious player in high-performance industrial and aerospace coatings.”

Ryan Senciboy joins the company as chief financial officer and oversees financial planning, accounting operations, reporting and transaction activity. The role also includes supporting merger and acquisition processes and strengthening financial systems as the organisation expands.

Senciboy began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), working in public accounting. Most recently, Senciboy served as vice president, treasurer and head of FP&A at US Strategic Metals.

“Ryan has the financial leadership this platform requires. His experience navigating complex transactions and building finance functions inside growing industrial businesses makes him the right person to support our M&A strategy and scale the financial infrastructure of PFRS,” says Hughes.

The leadership changes come as the company continues integrating recent acquisitions, including Gougeon Brothers, Wessex Resins and Adhesives and Unichem.

In a statement, the organisation says it is also considering additional acquisition opportunities and internal expansion projects.

Pro-Set Formulated Resin Systems operates manufacturing and commercial facilities in the United States and Europe. Its product portfolio includes West System, Pro-Set, Entropy Resins, WRA and Unichem.
