Pulse58 full electric RIB debuts at boot Düsseldorf
RS Electric Boats, the sister company to RS Sailing, will be unveiling its electric RIB at boot Düsseldorf, a boat that’s said to be the highest level of sustainable construction of any boat in its sector.
The Pulse58 is the product of two years of development and has a fully integral electric drive.
Pulse58’s hull has been purposely designed for its electric drive. The tunnel hull form and long waterline length giving decreased low speed drag to suit the instant torque of electric power, while providing a stable and manoeuvrable platform at speed. The battery bank, deep in the hull, lowers the centre of gravity increasing comfort. Hypalon tubes and an integral cockpit non-slip floor combine to give a high quality and long-lasting finish.
A Raymarine Axiom 7” touch screen display is standard fit on the console. Alongside all the advanced plotting and navigation features, Axiom also displays the power reserve, instant range and battery data, delivered by the RADLink transmitter. RADLink then broadcasts by Bluetooth and 4G to its mobile app to give remote charge data, along with revolutionary geofencing capabilities to control security and safe use.
Pulse58’s sustainable construction comprises bio-based infused epoxy resin, recycled PET core material, and naturally sourced basalt and flax fibres (which are incredibly strong and energy absorbing). The resulting innovative laminate is said to be lightweight and long lasting, even in the most extreme environments.
The custom formulated PRO-SET bio-based infusion epoxy yields a 26% bio content within the cured epoxy matrix. Its raw materials are co-products, or waste products, of other industrially important processes. These materials do not compete with food sources or displace food-based agriculture, thus providing a sustainable source.
The boat’s range is at least 35 nautical miles at its maximum speed (>20knots) so it can be expected to last for a day’s use under normal RIB usage and distances. The leisure and coaching specification at launch will be complimented by commercial and superyacht versions in due course. The boat launches with a fully specified standard inventory including 57KWh capacity, electronic touchscreen display, Tech Grip cockpit non-slip and five years of software updates.
The Pulse58 also features OMEGA shock mitigation seat inserts in its jockey seat as a standard component. Made by Sea Sure, managing director, Graham Brown, says: “The Pulse58 is one of the first RIBS to fit shock mitigation as a standard component and strive to meet the EU standards with shock and vibration.”
Launched at METS, the OMEGA seat inserts are a modular component that can be made to fit any size of marine seating.
