Quick Group expands QSY thruster range ahead of Cannes

Italian manufacturer and supplier for yacht and superyacht sectors, Quick Group, will present an expanded range of QSY brushless-motor electric thrusters, the Pacific control interface and its QCentric CAN bus-based platform at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026.

The expanded QSY range includes several new thruster units and a new 215mm tunnel, extending the available configurations from 7-metre dayboats to 30-metre superyachts. The Pacific series has been developed as a control interface for the QSY range, while QCentric provides a common architecture for integrating Quick Group products, functions and data.

The QSY range uses proprietary synchronous brushless motor technology. Its features include integrated inverters, native proportional control and immediate torque response, alongside lower power consumption, reduced maintenance requirements and quieter operation.

Expanded QSY thruster range

Quick Group has added several new units to the QSY electric thruster range, together with a 215mm tunnel. The expanded line-up starts with the 12-volt BT QSY 140-50, which provides 50 kgf of thrust with a 140mm tunnel, and extends to the 48-volt BT QSY 300-350, which provides up to 350 kgf of thrust with a 300mm tunnel.

The new 215mm tunnel sits between the existing 185mm and 250mm tunnel sizes. The range also includes dual power supply options, with 12V/24V and 24V/48V capability depending on the thruster model.

“These new models, and the modularity introduced with the new 215mm tunnel size, mean that the QSY range offers anywhere up to 350 kgf of thrust, and allows boatbuilders to adopt the same brushless technology across a very wide range of vessels up to 30 metres – or even larger, depending on hull geometry and weight, or whether a builder opts for a dual-thruster installation,” says Lorenzo Mongiardo, chief technical officer at Quick Group.

“We listened to the market, then developed each model to achieve the exact amount of thrust we wanted, including dedicated tuning to ensure specific outputs while allowing for multiple power supply options.”

The QSY thrusters use synchronous brushless motors with integrated inverters. The systems provide proportional control and torque response, while the design incorporates features intended to reduce power consumption and maintenance requirements.

Pacific controls and QCentric architecture

Quick Group will also introduce Pacific, a new control interface series designed to operate across its thruster ranges, with the QSY series as its primary application.

“In developing the new controls, we focused on straightforward implementation,” says Mongiardo. “It’s really a perfect match between the QSY thrusters and the thruster controls. Moreover, the installation is very easy and compact, and the T1XL and T2XL units occupy the same footprint on the helm console so if, for example, a customer decides to upgrade by adding a stern thruster – which means an extra control stick – it doesn’t require cutting a different hole in the console.”

The Pacific series can integrate with third-party manoeuvring and control systems, including OEM platforms from Volvo Penta, Mercury Marine and Xenta. Integration is supported through dedicated gateways and NMEA 2000-compatible communication connections.

QCentric provides the underlying technology platform for Quick Group products. It uses a CAN bus protocol and is intended to provide a common framework for integrating products, functions and technologies across the company’s different divisions.

“QCentric, at its core, is a CAN bus protocol, but for us it’s more than that – it’s an open and scalable ecosystem designed to connect products, functions and technologies through a common architecture,” Mongiardo explains. “The Pacific thruster control is the first system to use it, but QCentric was born with the intention to integrate Quick Group products such as our thrusters, stabilizer fins, windlasses and other solutions, and also to be open to other systems from our partners and other companies.”

QCentric supports communication protocols including NMEA 2000, as well as dedicated gateways and interfaces for connecting other systems. These connections can be used with third-party joysticks and assisted manoeuvring systems.

Quick Group at upcoming boat shows

Quick Group will unveil the QSY range, Pacific control interface and QCentric platform at the Cannes Yachting Festival, which runs from 8 to 13 September 2026 at Stand Vieux Port – PAN357.

The technologies will subsequently be shown at the Genoa International Boat Show from 1 to 8 October 2026 and the IBEX Show in Tampa, Florida, from 6 to 8 October 2026.
