Italian boatbuilder moves to quash sale rumours

After a week of mounting rumours, Rosetti Superyachts has confirmed the RSY brand is not for sale.

In the past few days, several articles have appeared in local Italian boating publications, as well as some international outlets, suggesting that the Italian boatbuilder’s San Vitale shipyard in Ravenna was about to be acquired by the Ferretti Group.

There had been no official confirmation, although rumours appear to have been fuelled by Ferretti’s CEO, Alberto Galassi, hinting at an upcoming expansion in late 2022.

While Ferretti Group has always denied rumours of an acquisition, they intensified when it was reported that email accounts belonging to Rosetti staff had been closed or frozen late last week.

However, in a statement released on Tuesday afternoon (28 February 2023), Rosetti Superyachts confirms that the RSY brand and its business shares [in the yachts’ market] are ‘not under negotiation and shall not be sold by [sole shareholder] Rosetti Marino.’

The firm also states that all RSY email accounts are ‘fully active’, and its usual commercial channels remain open.

“Rosetti Superyachts is fully operational and currently producing the RSY 38m Exp hull number two, which has not been officially given a name yet, for delivery to her owner in August ahead of her scheduled appearance at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival,” says Rosetti chief executive, Ermanno Bellettini, (pictured left).

The first hull of Rosetti’s 38m Exp, M/Y Emocean, was designed as a charter vessel and was delivered in summer 2021.
