Russell Currie to step down as Managing Director from Fairline Yachts

Luxury British boat builder, Fairline Yachts, announces Russell Currie is stepping down from the role of Managing Director after three years at the helm. Russell will return to leading his highly successful dealership, Fairline North Mallorca.

Under Russell’s leadership Fairline Yachts has secured many significant achievements including winning two World Yacht Trophies for best exterior design of the Targa 63 GTO and Targa 43 OPEN and receiving the Motor Boat & Yachting Judges’ Special Award 2018 for ‘the best turnaround of a business.’ Part of the boat builder’s turnaround has been the acquisition of the 200,000 square ft shore-side manufacturing site in Hythe, Southampton, which allows Fairline to build bigger boats than has been possible before.

Fairline’s Executive Chairman, David Tydeman, will take over the reins from Russell. David has an in-depth knowledge of the marine industry and the luxury yacht sector specifically. Fairline Yachts commented, “Over the past three years Fairline has reached its deserved place back on the world’s stage and we thank Russell for helping us get there – he is a true Fairline ambassador. As we enter the next exciting chapter in Fairline’s history, David’s highly relevant experience means he is extremely well-placed to build on the success of Fairline Yachts and take us into the next stage of our growth plans.”
