Smartgyro appoints new managing director
Smartgyro managing director Alessio Loguercio
Italy-headquartered gyro stabilisation company, Smartgyro, has appointed Alessio Loguercio as managing director, effective immediately. The appointment was confirmed in La Spezia yesterday (13 January 2026).
Loguercio has more than 15 years of experience in technical, operational and commercial roles within the marine sector. He joins Smartgyro from Ferretti Group, where he spent nine years working on international after-sales operations and service delivery in several strategic markets.
Loguercio’s early career began in technical design, followed by project management and after-sales positions at CNM Cantieri Navali del Mediterraneo in Rome. He later moved to Riva, where he progressed to a senior role overseeing after-sales and service activities across the EMEA region.
Since 2019, Loguercio has served as after-sales and service supervisor at Riva. In that role, he led operations across markets including Italy, the French Riviera, Monaco, the UAE, Turkey and the Balearic Islands. His responsibilities included managing warranty activities, overseeing multimillion-euro budgets and handling supplier negotiations. He also worked with engineering, operations and quality teams on product-related improvements.
The news comes less than a year after Smartgyro appointed Carlo Galli Tognota as its new chief executive officer.
“I am truly delighted to take on the role of managing director at Smartgyro,” says Loguercio. “My career has taught me the importance of listening, truly understanding what owners expect, supporting crews in their everyday challenges, and working collaboratively with suppliers and shipyards.
“From my first interactions with the Smartgyro team, I was struck by the energy, commitment and pride that everyone brings to their work. The culture is a real strength, and I am eager to build on it as we continue to expand Smartgyro’s global presence and guide the company into its next phase of development and innovation.”
Smartgyro develops and supplies marine stabilisation systems for recreational and professional vessels. Since 2020, the company has operated as part of the Yanmar Marine Recreational Business Unit, working alongside other Yanmar Group brands on product development and market activity.
The company will exhibit at boot Düsseldorf in Hall 10, stand D40. Loguercio will be at the event from 19 to 22 January 2026.
