Southco expands portfolio with black PVD marine hardware
UK-based Southco Manufacturing has introduced black physical vapour deposition (PVD)-coated versions of its M1 Compression Latch and E6 Constant Torque Hinge, targeting boatbuilders seeking a unified aesthetic across visible marine access points.
The launch of the black PVD marine hardware addresses the growing demand for contrast-driven interior styling, where dark accents and hardware continuity have become central to vessel design.
Developed as complementary solutions, the black PVD‑coated M1 latch and E6 hinge provide a unified appearance across visible access points, supporting today’s contrast‑driven marine interior trends. The shared glossy black finish allows for visual consistency across compartments, hatches and interior panels.
The black PVD‑coated M1 and E6 solutions are well‑suited for applications including yacht interiors, deck storage compartments, floor‑mounted access panels and interior side compartments.
The M1 black PVD‑coated Compression Latch builds on Southco’s established stainless steel platform, offering corrosion resistance suited for harsh marine conditions. The PVD finish enhances UV resistance and long‑term appearance, helping hardware maintain its refined look over time.
Complementing the latch, the E6 Constant Torque Hinge is designed to provide smooth, controlled motion while securely holding lids, hatches or panels in any user-defined position. Now available with a black UV-protective coating, the E6 hinge extends Southco’s hinge portfolio into visible, design-forward marine applications.
While aimed primarily at luxury yacht builders and marine OEMs, Southco noted that the products are also suitable for high-specification RV and speciality vehicle markets.
The launch reflects Southco’s continued investment in expanding finish and styling options across its access hardware portfolio, helping customers meet evolving aesthetic trends while relying on proven engineering performance.
The black PVD M1 latch and E6 hinge are available globally from August 2026.
