Modern classic yacht design and build company Spirit Yachts is hosting a recruitment open day at its yard in Ipswich, Suffolk, on Friday 6 June.

The boatbuilder says the recruitment drive comes in the wake of new orders for Spirit sail and motor yachts, including two new P50s, an R53 race yacht and a C78 sailing yacht.

Last year, the yard released images of its Q Class project being rolled over at its Suffolk yard.

Spirit Yachts’ managing director Karen Underwood says: “We are always looking for a pipeline of new talent to join our world-class team. With a healthy order book and a full yard, we are steadily growing to meet demand.”

Spirit Yachts is opening its doors from 10am to 4pm on Friday 6th June for a tour of current builds underway. The company is inviting individuals interested in careers across boatbuilding, cabinet making, finishing, engineering, electrics, design and naval architecture to visit the yard, meet the team and explore potential opportunities.

Karen Underwood says: “Whether you are an experienced marine professional, at the start of your career, or looking for a new challenge, we encourage you to come along. Working at Spirit means joining our strong team culture, with a passion for wood and a commitment to excellence – collaborating to create beautiful yachts we can all be proud of for years to come.”

Established in 1993, Spirit Yachts was founded by Sean McMillan and Mick Newman, who set out to offer yacht owners a beautiful, unique and sustainably sourced alternative to fibreglass production boats. This goal remains at the core of the company’s ethos today.
