The new ultra-compact, affordable and waterproof GX1400GPS/E DSC VHF from Standard Horizon
Continuing to lead the market in compact, affordable and feature-packed DSC transceivers, Standard Horizon announces the arrival of the all-new GX1400GPS/E.
Measuring just over 6 inches wide and a fraction under 4 inches deep, this remarkably compact and rugged marine radio is designed to fit into the most challenging of locations. The full waterproofing to the IPX8 standard (5ft submersion for 30 minutes) makes it ideal to grace the dashboard of any high performance open boat, power or sail, where space is limited and the spray may fly.
The DSC (Digital Selective Calling) elements of the Class D GX1400GPS/E contain all the easy-to-operate (E2O) functionality for which Standard Horizon is renowned. The basic functions of Programmable Scan, Priority Scan and Multi Watch are supplemented with other valuable features that make this compact set so versatile. These include programmable soft keys, DSC test calling and a pre-set key to recall up to 10 of the most-used channels.
The GPS element provides a built-in 66 channel GPS receiver that further enhances the set’s functionality. GPS output can be used to add position data to DSC calling with just a few simple steps. The set can also be connected to a compatible chart plotter via NMEA 0183.
To allow the settings to be clearly seen whatever the weather, the GX1400GPS/E carries an oversized full-dot matrix display with wide digits and bold text. The menu key on the front panel makes navigating the advanced features highly intuitive.
The sound output has been optimised too. With the use of Clear Voice Noise Reduction Technology, the microphone eliminates unwanted background sounds from the engines, wind or waves so transmissions are crystal clear. The microphone also features buttons that allow direct access to Channel 16, the main calling and distress channel and also up/down access to sub channels. The operator can also toggle easily between 1 Watt and 25 Watts.
The GX1400GPS/E carries the ATIS (Automatic Transmitter Identification System) mode, which is mandatory for most pleasure vessels cruising through the commercial waterways of Europe. The set displays a ‘Busy’ LED indicator, glowing green when a signal is received so the operator can tell at a glance that the set is being interrogated.
Protected in a rugged and ultra-compact case and offering a wide range of advanced features including built-in GPS, the new GX1400GPS/E from Standard Horizon is the ideal companion for fast, open boats and will slot into any console where space is at a premium.
As with all Standard Horizon transceivers, it comes with a full 3-year no quibble waterproofing guarantee.
