Ukrainian boat manufacturer gives update
BRIG, the Ukrainian RIB manufacturer headquartered from Kharkiv, has issued a statement updating the industry on its situation following the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
The statement reads: ‘Due to the unprovoked, unjust, and illegal Russian invasion into Ukraine, we inform you that all production at BRIG HQ is temporarily ceased.’
‘The highest priority for us is to secure nearly 500 of our employees and help them take care of their families properly, which is not so trivial, given those genocidal warfare methods carried out by Russia.’
BRIG says it is focused on preparations for a fast return to normal or even increased production volumes, after the ‘inevitable victory of Ukraine’.
The statement confirms that BRIG’s international network will continue to operate as usual.
BRIG is an official distributor of BRIG Inflatable boats, Tohatsu and Evinrude outboard engines, Flower and Torqeedo electrical engines, and Jobe watersport equipment. Alongside its main office in the city, BRIG also had a showroom in Kharkiv and another in Kiev.
Some of BRIG’s facilities are shown in the video below, posted on the company Facebook page in July 2021.
Sanctions against Russian-linked yachts continue, which has seen several yachts flee to non-EU waters. Last week, two superyachts linked to Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich docked on Turkish shores, outside the reach of sanctions imposed by the EU and UK.
