VIDEO: Thrills and spills in World Sailing’s review of 2021

World Sailing, the global governing body for the sport of sailing, has released a compilation of highlights from the 2021 season.

The high-octane video features thrills and spills from an incredible 12 months of races and competitions on the water, which spanned events including the America’s Cup, Transat Jacques Vabre, SailGP Championship, Rolex Fastnet Race, Vendée Globe, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and sailing regattas all over the world.

The video also highlights the launch of World Sailing’s #SailtoLA social-media campaign, calling for sailing to be reinstated in the Paralympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028 after being dropped for Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.

Sailing fans have plenty to look forward to in 2022 and beyond. SailGP returns to San Francisco on 26-27 March this year for the final event of Season 2 and the championship-deciding Grand Final. The Rolex Giraglia runs from 10-18 June, and La Vendée-Arctique-Les Sables d’Olonne is confirmed for 12 June.

Meanwhile, the Ocean Race 2022-23, which starts on 15 January 2023, has announced dates for all eight stopovers, as well as a new fly-by past Kiel in Germany.
