Women in sailing seminar at British Marine Spring Expo

At next week’s Expo, British Marine is hosting a participation seminar with The Magenta Project charity and Sunsail Worldwide Sailing, in conjunction with its Access to Boating Association.

New initiatives to increase the participation of women in sailing will be unveiled, and you can find out the latest in the World Sailing Trust’s Women in Sailing Strategic Review.

The seminar, aimed at anyone interested in participation in watersports, segmentation, inclusivity and diversity, takes place on the second day of the Expo (5th February) and is free to attend.

A panel of experts in this field will be joining guests for an interactive Q&A. This includes British sailor and Chair of the World Sailing Trust, Dee Caffari MBE, entrepreneur and Chair of The Magenta Project, Elaine Penhaul, Marketing Director at The Magenta Project, Victoria Low, Partner and Sailing Team Head at GAC Pindar, Andrew Pindar OBE DL, and Paralympic sailor, Helena Lucas MBE.

The seminar timetable is as follows:

  • 13:30 – Welcome – Rob Clark, Chair of British Marine Access to Boating Association, and Jon White, Lead of British Marine’s participation work
  • 13:32 – Introduction to The Magenta Project – Elaine Penhaul
  • 13:40 – Women in Sailing Strategic Review & announcement of the new Magenta Project initiative – Vicky Low & Dee Caffari MBE
  • 13:55 – Sunsail & The Magenta Project – Simon Boulding, Events Director at Sunsail & Vice Chair British Marine Access to Boating Association
  • 14:05 – Interactive Q&A panel – Women in sailing 2020 & beyond
  • 14:30 – Finish

The British Marine Spring Expo takes place on 4th-5th February 2020 at the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. The event offers a two-day schedule of industry talks and seminars set against a backdrop of learning, networking and business negotiations. It includes new free BM Talks delivering the latest training skills, industry insights from leading experts and discussions surrounding the biggest challenges facing our industry today.
