Yacht Sentinel selects Actisense as NMEA data connectivity partner

Yacht Sentinel, which specialises in boat security monitoring via technology, has launched its Sentinel Domotics using a custom Actisense W2K-1 NMEA 2000 to Wi-Fi Gateway – which means the system can be retro-fitted to any boat.

The combined systems give boaters access to all available data on their NMEA 2000 network remotely.

For technical installers, boatbuilders and those in the rental trade, the Sentinel Domotics system is an invaluable resource for maintenance, remote diagnostics and overall boat monitoring, giving users peace of mind, says Actisense.

“The ability to collect everything from engine data, temperature, water depth, speed, GPS coordinates and more, remotely, is valuable to any boater,” says Actisense’s CEO, Phil Whitehurst. “What makes the Sentinel Domotics system uniquely beneficial is that, as a truly wireless solution, it can be retrofitted to any boat with an NMEA 2000 network, and all data on the NMEA 2000 bus will be accessible at any time.”

The Sentinel Domotics system comprises a Wi-Fi-router, an NMEA 2000 gateway and the custom Actisense W2K-1. All information is gathered by the system and then transmitted via WiFi or its 3G/4G connectivity to be concisely displayed on the Yacht Sentinel partner platform and the YS Hub app.

“We chose the Actisense W2K-1 to be an integral part of our system because of their robust nature and Actisense’s global reputation as NMEA experts,” says Romain Devismes, CEO, Yacht Sentinel.

“Over the last 12 years we have built an entire boating ecosystem based upon our spirit of innovation and service. Sentinel Domotics is the latest in a long line of industry leading products and our experts have been working tirelessly on it for over a year. So now, I’m really proud that we have designed a product that really delivers on our vision to be at the heart of the connected boat revolution. Sentinel Domotics is complementary to our wireless security systems and on-board cameras, and adds significant value to shipyards, dealers and fleet managers at an affordable cost.”
