AkzoNobel appoints director of marine, protective and yacht coatings

AkzoNobel has appointed Simon Parker as its new managing director of the marine, protective, and yacht coatings business unit.

Parker has spent 24 years with AkzoNobel’s coatings businesses and has held several senior leadership positions including in the company’s powder coatings and vehicle refinishes divisions, and more recently with industrial coatings.

“I am delighted to lead such a prestigious division as marine, protective and yacht coatings,” says Parker. “As a key unit within AkzoNobel, our brands, including International and Awlgrip, are rightly renowned for stand-out quality and the solutions they provide to customers worldwide.

It’s reported this move will further the company’s commitment to developing products and solutions that “set new standards in innovation and sustainability”.

“Innovation has always been at its heart,” continues Parker, “and I’m determined that remains the case so that we continue to develop coating solutions that combine the ultimate in performance with tangible sustainable benefits that deliver positive social and environmental impacts and enable our customers to reach their own sustainability goals.

“There is an amazing team in place already – and it will be my privilege to help them continue to drive innovation and change in our industry and to lead by example.”
