AllBoat Services celebrates Apollo landing

AllBoat Services (ABS), which has been providing engineering services alongside technical products to Plymouth’s marine community over the last three decades, has celebrated the grand opening of its first purpose-built premises with suppliers, customers, friends and family.

“Customers came from as far as Southampton and Belgium to help us celebrate and it was lovely to see so many friendly faces at the start of what is a very exciting new journey for us,” says Maria Shephard, office administrator at AllBoat Services Ltd. “I’m so proud to be part of the ABS team! Nick and John had a vision that one day they would own their own bespoke premises and here we are, albeit a lot of hard work later, with two!” she adds.

“You’ve finally got your own place and I wish you all the best going forwards,” says Johnny Mercer MP, who cut the ribbon to ABS’s new waterside premises in the commercial district of Cattedown to make its move there official. “Small businesses have become the backbone of what we do here in Plymouth and it’s wonderful to see another company opening up in the City,” he adds.

“We are now focusing on the work we really enjoy and do exceptionally well.  It’s a lovely feeling to know we own our own property, as well as the security that provides, and we are so grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate and those who continue to support the business,” adds Nick Nutt, co-owner and managing director of ABS.

The move by ABS, from rented space at Plymouth Yacht Haven to its new bespoke headquarters at Apollo Court coincides with the launch of its new e-commerce website (www.allboatservices.co.uk), new sole distribution agreements, product lines and a more flexible, innovative and customer- orientated approach to business.  Engineering expertise and repairs can now be delivered to customers nationwide, by a fleet of new mobile workshop vehicles, to any dockside, marina, boatyard or driveway across the UK.

“To meet the increased demand for our specialist services, we have moved and changed our approach to focus on the customer and the core areas where we have the greatest experience and technical abilities,” says John Ainsworth, co-owner and general manager of ABS, which is also celebrating the news that it has been appointed as the UK sole distributor for ‘Dockmate’, a wireless boat and ship docking system.

“We’ve been looking for some time for premises to invest in and when we found Apollo Court we knew it was the right place from which to grow, consolidate our business and build a rock solid foundation for the future,” says Nick. “From our new high spec premises we are in a much better position to service even more customers who live and work here or are just visiting the City by sea. Our new base is close to Plymouth’s marinas and only a mile away from the A38 for the expansion of our mobile engineering service,” he adds.
