C-Map, a provider of digital marine cartography and cloud-based mapping, has released its first major update to North American charts for 2025.

The update includes enhanced satellite imagery along the East Coast, covering areas such as Chesapeake Bay and the Carolinas. Coastal high-resolution bathymetry and shaded relief have been updated for Florida, the Gulf Coast and the Great Lakes. Additionally, 264 inland lakes have been upgraded, with 206 of these located in Florida.

The news comes after C-Map enhanced its digital marine cartography for inland and coastal regions in the UK, France, Denmark and Portugal in November.

“We’re excited to announce a new update for our C-Map users in North America, helping them prepare for the upcoming season,” says Jakob Svensson, C-Map product manager. “Our dedicated product team is focused on sourcing the most up-to-date data and consistently enhancing our charts.”

The update applies to C-Map’s Discover, Reveal and X Generation charts. It is available to new users as well as existing customers who purchased a chart within the past year and subscribed to C-Map. The latest charts can be viewed online.

Updates for North America include the latest NOAA ENC navigation data, improved satellite imagery for coastal areas in Seattle, Texas, Louisiana and the East Coast, and enhanced shaded relief and high-resolution bathymetry for the Florida Keys, Gulf Coast and Chesapeake Bay. Shaded relief and bathymetric data have also been updated for the Great Lakes, including Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake Huron and Lake Michigan, as well as for 264 inland waterbodies across 16 states. Key areas include Tampa Bay in Florida, the Detroit River and St. Clair River in Michigan, Fox River North in Wisconsin and Geist Reservoir in Indiana.

Shaded relief and satellite imagery are available on C-Map Reveal and Reveal X charts and are compatible with a range of chartplotters from Lowrance, Simrad and B&G.
