Cockwells finds fame alongside Cameron Diaz in Netflix movie
As well as premiering its Duchy Sport at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding says two of its boats are shortly set to achieve fame, starring alongside Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx in a forthcoming Netflix Original entitled Back in Action.
“The film company approached us about using our beautiful launches, which they first spotted on Cockwells’ website,” the Cornish boatbuilder tells MIN.
The film, which is due to be released in 2024, is an action-comedy directed by Horrible Bosses’ Seth Gordon, and co-starring Kyle Chandler and Glenn Close.
Diaz, who returned to acting after a pause to raise her daughter for the shoot, was spotted filming action scenes on the Thames earlier this year aboard the sleek Cockwells superyacht tender Grace. The Duchy Sport (pictured above) was also used during filming.
“Our superyacht tender, Grace is powered by twin 250hp Yanmar engines and propelled by outdrive legs, and hits a speedy 38 knots, which is perfect for action-packed shoots,” says founder and managing director, Dave Cockwell.

Cockwells launched the Duchy Sport at SIBS 2022, and says that the latest version has a galley down below and a hatch within the cabin that, when opened, creates a double bed. “As well as having a blast on the water, you can now dine and dream on the Duchy Sport,” explains design director, Henry Ward.
Founder Dave Cockwell says the Duchy Sport makes the perfect chase boat. He cites impressive seagoing capabilities and says it “can be easily fitted with substantial towing eyes and therefore towed rather than stowed. Unlike many other such tenders on the market, the stern drives can be lifted into trailer mode to reduce drag and prevent damage, too.”
In March 2023, Cockwells delivered two of its fastest tenders – a 12.3m limousine catamaran tender and an 11.7m open sport catamaran tender – to Lürssen Shipyard in Germany, for the 160m mega yacht, Blue, said to be one of the largest superyachts in the world.
