Hyke and Aqua superPower partner on electric ferry networks
Aqua superPower and Hyke have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore developing electrified urban ferry networks in cities worldwide.
Hyke is a Norwegian maritime technology company developing electric passenger ferries for urban, regional and inland mobility. Aqua superPower operates a dockside network of fast-charging stations for electric vessels.
The two firms say the partnership is intended to support ferry operators, transport authorities, ports and city planners looking at electric passenger transport on urban and inland waterways. Potential areas of collaboration include route assessments, feasibility studies, pilot projects, customer engagements and demonstration programmes.
The news comes after NatPower Marine acquired Aqua superPower’s international charging network from ATV Power in July 2026, adding more than 80 charging locations across Europe and North America to its maritime electrification platform.

“Electric ferries have the potential to provide clean, efficient and attractive passenger transport while reducing pressure on roads and existing public transport networks. However, successful deployment requires more than innovative vessels or charging infrastructure alone. It requires both to be planned as part of a single transport ecosystem.
“Our collaboration with Hyke is about creating a blueprint that helps cities, operators and ports understand how to successfully deliver electrified ferry routes from concept through to operation.”

The companies will also share expertise with public authorities and operators evaluating the transition to electric passenger transport, with potential projects assessed according to route requirements, vessel characteristics and charging needs.
The agreement comes as governments and municipalities seek to reduce transport emissions and make greater use of existing infrastructure. Electric ferry services can operate on waterways and may provide an alternative to some road-based passenger transport routes.
