Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding will make the world debut of its Duchy 45 at the Southampton International Boat Show (18-27 September 2026), with the 14.74-metre motor launch becoming the largest model in the Duchy range to date.

The company previously showcased the Hardy 45 European Lady Ella, Duchy 35 and new Duchy Sport 25 at this year’s British Motor Yacht Show.

The new boat features a semi-displacement hull designed by naval architect Andrew Wolstenholme and is constructed from low-maintenance composites. Cockwells says the Duchy 45 is designed for both open-water cruising and coastal waterways.

The vessel has an expansive saloon, large aft cockpit and a super king-size master cabin with en-suite heads. Bifold doors connect the saloon with the cockpit, while large windows and an additional sunroof provide natural light and an open connection with the outside.

Twin Volvo Penta propulsion

The Duchy 45 is powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS 600 pod drives, with a maximum speed of 31 knots. Cockwells gives a range of 1,000 nautical miles at 8 knots, reducing to 350 nautical miles at 25 knots.

Joystick control, virtual anchoring and dynamic positioning are included for manoeuvring, while an optional passerelle is available for stern-to mooring. A bow thruster and optional Seakeeper gyrostabiliser are also offered.

The interior can be configured in several layouts, including a twin-cabin arrangement with the galley below, or a three-cabin layout with the galley positioned alongside the saloon.

An optional flybridge adds an exterior helm and additional cockpit seating.

The Duchy 45 measures 14.74 metres overall, with a 4.45-metre beam and 1.1-metre draft. It has a dry weight of approximately 16 tonnes and carries 2,200 litres of fuel and 780 litres of fresh water.

Cockwells will display the Duchy 45 at stand M111 during the Southampton International Boat Show. The 10-day event, which returns this year to Mayflower Park, has announced a programme of more than 110 talks, panel discussions, demonstrations and workshops across its Boating Stage and expanded Wooden Boat Stage.
