Cox Marine unveils newest outboard in V8 diesel range
British outboard manufacturer Cox Marine has launched the newest model in its product lineup, the Cox Marine 350, a 350-horsepower variant of the British firm’s flagship V8 outboard.
The new diesel outboard premiered at the 2024 Miami International Boat Show.
Cox was co-founded by David Cox, who believed that the days of gasoline outboards were numbered.
Gavin Wesson, CEO of Cox Marine, says: “Believing there had to be a better way was the thought that inspired our pioneering journey to develop a lightweight outboard powered by alternative fuel options to gasoline, which meant not having to compromise on what is important.
“The launch of our first product, the Cox Marine 300 – a 4.4-litre, twin-turbo, 300-horsepower V8, made that vision a reality.”
In 2022, Cox Marine claimed the industry’s first-ever diesel outboard world speed record with the Cox Marine 300, achieving an average speed of 62.27mph (100.21 km/h).
The firm says the new Cox Marine 350 sets new standards in fuel economy, power delivery and safety.
“The new 350 allows us to power higher displacement vessels efficiently across both the recreational and commercial sectors,” says Wesson. “This enables us to work with new customers and enhance our from-factory offering to existing partners.”
Adam Gurr, Cox Marine’s product director, notes: “The creation of the V8 represented the start of a new generation of outboard technology, offering the only alternative propulsion solution purpose built for the marine industry.
“The V8 meets the understandably increasing demand for a propulsion option that provides equal levels of performance, convenience, time, and economy.”
Vice president of Ring Power’s Cox Marine division, Pat Bucci, is excited by the addition of the 350. “The US leisure market is always seeking maximum torque and range,” says Bucci. “The 350 delivers that and more.”
