ePropulsion expands electric inboard motor lineup

I-20 epropulsion

Electric outboard manufacturer ePropulsion is showcasing its new, DAME Award-shortlisted I-20 inboard motor at METSTRADE 2022. The I-20 is part of the new I-Series, which also includes the I-10 and I-40.

Available in 10KW, 20KW and 40KW input power, the I-Series electric inboard motors are said to be ideal for leisure marine and commercial applications on small and medium size boats. All products in the I-Series have been designed for ease of use and space-saving.

The models have a compact design that integrates five functional modules of motor, gearbox, motor controller, system control unit and cooling system into a small space, with ePropulsion claiming they take up 60 per cent less space than a typical combustion engine. The I-10, I-20 and I-40 are also said to be 65 per cent lighter than a typical combustion engine with an easy-to-maintain, high-performance and durable lithium iron phosphate battery.

The ePropulsion Smart System Architecture (eSSA) on the I-Series takes the electronic control unit (ECU) as the core, integrating the electric drive system, interactive system, battery system and cloud all into one.

The I-Series also supports the integration of the ePropulsion Connectivity Service, based on boating IoT technology. It allows users to access cloud-based connectivity services without the need for additional accessories.

From here, with user’s authorisation, users can check everything from the location of the boat to battery level, speed and charging status, automatically generate sailing logs, authorise guests to power on for easy boat sharing remotely and even turn on the security mode and notify the user instantly should the boat be stolen.

“We are really excited about displaying our new I-Series at METSTRADE 2022 as we continue to invest in smart system solutions R&D and build our new inboard motor offering,” says Danny Tao, co-founder and CEO of ePropulsion. “METS was the first show we exhibited our very first product in 2013, so it’s always great to be back at this significant European show. The market continues to show a great reception to our products as we continue to grow in Europe.”

ePropulsion has a full range of products and systems on display on Stand 12.132 at METSTRADE 2022.
