First Giorgio Armani superyacht launched in Italy

The Italian Sea Group has launched the first hull of its new Admiral Armani superyacht series, resulting from its design collaboration with Giorgio Armani.
The yacht hit the water at the company’s Marina di Carrara headquarters in Italy, with a launch ceremony attended by the owner’s team, representatives of the Armani Group, local officials and members of the Italian Sea Group team involved in the yacht’s construction.
This 72m vessel is the first of two yachts entirely designed by Giorgio Armani. The project was originally launched in 2020 and developed by Giorgio Armani and his team in collaboration with the style centre of Admiral – a brand of The Italian Sea Group.
Known as Project Metamorphosis, the 2,000GT yacht has both interior and exterior design by Giorgio Armani and features an ice-class hull, a main deck with six cabins and a 6,000 nautical mile range.
The Admiral 72 was originally due to be presented at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show. The delayed delivery was triggered by additional upgrades requested by the new owner, following a resale in May 2024.
The reason for the resale was not confirmed, but the in-build yacht had an asking price of €105m.
The shipyard says the project aims to strike a balance between “minimalist aesthetics and advanced technologies.”
The exterior design features geometric volumes set against curved surfaces. Satin aluminium and steel detailing have been used to create shifting visual reflections on the golden exterior, while floor-to-ceiling windows are incorporated to connect the interior spaces with the surrounding sea views.
Upper decks are laid out as open terraces, with spaces including a lounge area and a helicopter landing zone.
Interior elements have been developed by the Armani/Casa studio, which is part of the Giorgio Armani empire. Materials used include Black Marquinia marble, golden Calacatta and Canaletto walnut, combined with mirrored surfaces, custom lighting and fabrics.
“This yacht represents the confluence of Giorgio Armani’s poetic elegance and The Italian Sea Group’s technical excellence,” says Giovanni Costantino, founder and chief executive of The Italian Sea Group. “A creative journey that has turned a dream into a reality that sails the seas with grace.”
The Admiral Armani 72m superyacht is scheduled to debut at the Monaco Yacht Show 2025, which takes place from 24 to 27 September in Port Hercule.
