Frydenbø Marine appoints Calle Olsson as CEO
Frydenbø Marine has appointed Calle Olsson as CEO, with the appointment taking effect on 1 September 2026. The move sees Olsson return to a business where he has previously held senior roles.
Frydenbø Marine is a boatbuilder and distributor headquartered in Sarpsborg, Norway. It produces and distributes popular Nordic leisure boat brands such as Nordkapp, Sting, and Airborne. Manufacturing primarily takes place at its dedicated factory in Poland.
Olsson grew up in Marstrand, Sweden and has spent his career in the marine sector. He led Nordic Marine for several years before joining Frydenbø Marine as an area manager after its acquisition of Fische Marine in 2012. More recently, he served as country manager at Mercury Marine for Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
He holds a degree in economics from the University of Borås and also studied fashion marketing at Manchester Metropolitan University. He is based in Gothenburg.
Olsson takes over from Trond Underhaug, who has led Frydenbø Marine in recent years. Underhaug has moved into the role of CEO at Fjord Defence Marine following Fjord Defence Group’s acquisition of Frydenbø Milpro from Frydenbø Marine earlier this year.
“Trond has done an outstanding job leading and developing Frydenbø Marine in recent years, while also building Frydenbø Milpro into a strong and relevant player,” says Frydenbø Marine CFO Åsmund Bjørndal Heen.
“As he now takes on leadership of Milpro going forward as Fjord Defence Marine, we are very pleased to welcome Calle as the new CEO. He has strong knowledge of both the products and the company, and is well suited to lead Frydenbø Marine into its next phase, where we aim to realise significant international potential.”
Olsson says he is taking on the role at a point when the company is entering its next stage of development.
“Frydenbø is a solid group with clear ambitions, and I am impressed by both the expertise within the organisation and the strong values the business is built on. For me, having previously worked with the Nordkapp brand, it is particularly motivating to once again work with Nordkapp products – I know the position it holds in the market. Together with the company’s other products and capabilities, this provides an excellent foundation for further growth.
Olsson adds: “I look forward to realising the international potential together with the team.”
