Leonardo DiCaprio assists in ‘one in a billion’ rescue on cruise ship

Leonardo DiCaprio has helped save a man who fell overboard from a cruise ship, according to The Telegraph.

The incident happened on the 30th December 2019 when the American actor was reportedly on a boat with friends in the Caribbean, and heard a Mayday call.

DiCaprio immediately agreed their vessel should divert to aid in the search for the man, a crew member from a Club Med yacht near the island of Saint Martin, who had fallen overboard.

The victim, a 24 year old Frenchman, had survived by treading water for 11 hours before finally being found in the rough seas.

He was pulled from the water by the crew, just before nightfall.

It is reported by various sources that DiCaprio’s vessel was the only one looking for the missing man and the boat’s captain described the successful rescue as a ‘one in a billion shot’.
