New shiplift facilities for superyachts in Taiwan
Horizon Group has announced the completion of a state-of-the-art shiplift system at its Premier Shipyard. The milestone achievement came in June 2025 and is the result of two years of development.
Situated on 200 metres of waterfront property at the Port of Kaohsiung in Taiwan, Premier Shipyard spans 24,000 square metres of private yard space. It’s designed to accommodate 70 metres+ yachts. The new Pearlson Shiplift System measures 160 metres by 13.7 and has capacity upto 1,800 metric tons. The company completed a $15m yard expansion in 2021.
“We are very excited about this latest upgrade with the new Pearlson Shiplift System, as it marks a significant step in the Horizon Group’s ongoing expansion,” says John Lu, CEO of Horizon Group. “The shiplift provides our shipyard with vastly increased capabilities and capacity, helping to fulfill unprecedented demand for global superyacht owners.”
The group says it reinforces its position as a leading provider of diverse services to yacht owners worldwide and cements the shipyard’s position as a top-tier destination for refits and maintenance.
Premier Shipyard says it’s been cultivating its robust reputation ‘for decades’ through close collaboration with leading classification societies, including Bureau Veritas, Lloyd’s Register, Registro Italiano Navale , and Det Norske Veritas. The yard’s track record includes servicing over 30 yachts worldwide, encompassing brands such as Feadship and Riva, and completing refits on vessels measuring up to 69 metres.
