Nordic Marine Expo to launch alongside Helsinki Boat Show in 2027

A ferry sailing from Helsinki harbour Nordic Marine Expo takes place in Helsinki from 18–21 February 2027

A new event for marine professionals, the Nordic Marine Expo, will take place at Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre from 18–21 February 2027.

The first day, Thursday 18 February, will be dedicated exclusively to maritime professionals. From Friday to Sunday, the event will also be open to visitors attending the 2027 Helsinki International Boat Show (Vene 27 Båt).

The news comes after the 2026 Helsinki International Boat Show, Vene 26 Båt – often referred to as Europe’s second-largest indoor boat show – recorded attendance of nearly 55,000 visitors, bringing the show back to its 2024 level.

The Nordic Marine Expo will bring together vessels with navigation, propulsion, rescue and safety technologies.

“For maritime professionals, it is important to see vessels and equipment firsthand and discuss them directly with suppliers and manufacturers,” says Jussi Kivikari, business manager at Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre. “Nordic Marine Expo is also an important networking opportunity for companies, authorities, maritime professionals, and other industry stakeholders. Being held simultaneously with the Vene 27 Båt Helsinki International Boat Show creates significant added value.”

The professional programme on 18 February 2027 will cover changes to regulations and training requirements for professional boating, environmental and emissions requirements, oil spill response and maritime preparedness. It will also include practical experiences from rescue and response operations.

The full programme is due to be published by November 2026.

“The Finnish National Rescue Association has organised the current topics in the governmental vessel operations seminar during the Vene Båt Show for the past two years and will continue to do so in 2027,” says Vili Heinikoski, lead safety expert at the Finnish National Rescue Association.

“The seminar brings together rescue authorities and other officials operating at sea and on inland waterways to discuss current issues in vessel operations and gain insights into technological developments, training, and safety. Nordic Marine Expo is an excellent new addition to the boat show’s offering for both authorities and other marine professionals.

“Government vessel operations are currently developing rapidly, and we want to play our part in enhancing the knowledge, skills, and expertise of authorities through Nordic Marine Expo.”
