RAD launches £995 monthly leasing scheme for RAD 40 electric outboard

British marine technology company RAD is introducing a new leasing scheme for its RAD 40 electric outboard, making its complete propulsion package available from £995 per month.

The new marine engine lease programme is designed to provide customers with a more accessible route to electrification, without the requirement for a large upfront investment. It provides predictable monthly payments, with the customer owning the product at the end of the term.

Announced at Southampton International Boat Show, the finance lease covers a turnkey package including the RAD 40 electric outboard, battery, steering wheel, throttle, control units and cables, configured to suit the individual vessel.

The RAD 40 delivers 40kW of continuous power, alongside near-silent operation, and zero-emission propulsion. The product was designed for a range of vessels, including RIBs, powerboats and other leisure and commercial craft, with short and long shaft options available to accommodate different vessel requirements.

Chris Shepherd, RAD’s CCO said: “Southampton International Boat Show is an important moment in the marine calendar, with the industry coming together to look at the latest technologies and consider what the future of boating looks like. With so much focus on innovation and the transition towards more sustainable propulsion, we felt the timing was right to announce our new RAD 40 leasing programme.

“We know that the upfront cost of moving to electric propulsion can be a significant barrier for boat owners and operators, even when they are interested in making the switch. Leasing gives customers another route into electric propulsion, allowing them to access a complete system through a predictable monthly payment rather than a significant initial investment.”

Available over three, four or five years, the finance lease offers fixed monthly payments and customers will own the drive system outright at the end of the term. The starting price of £995 per month is subject to terms and conditions and based on the final system configuration required for each vessel.

RAD recently appointed Sean Wilson as USA sales manager as it continues to expand its presence in North America.
