RNLI releases stunning footage of lifeboat station slipways

This exhilarating short film showcases six lifeboat station slipway launches, from Cromer to Moelfre.

It clearly demonstrates the need for different solutions for different locations. The stations are located with a combination of factors taken into consideration – tides, weather protection and also being able to place a station in a location that would otherwise be difficult to access.

“Slipways allow us to place stations in places that are otherwise inaccessible for a moored boat due to rough terrain or a large tidal range,” explains a RNLI spokesperson. “The Lizard station is a great example of this.”

The process for launch and recovery is the same for both calm and stormy weather. “It takes a little more perseverance,” says the RNLI.
