Sad images of Sea Lady II as stricken superyacht floated in St Tropez salvage

Hebo Maritiemservice, a Dutch maritime services provider, has shared images of its lift of Sea Lady II across its social media. The superyacht sank after a fierce blaze ripped through it, in St Tropez in early July. The company’s website says it specialises in ‘limiting further damage’ and it’s known for its heavy lifting, salvage, and transport. It has a diverse fleet of vessels to handle a wide range of projects in various markets – and this week it’s brought Sea Lady II up from the deep.
Salvage operations have been underway since 5 August when Hebo arrived onsite with its crane. The recovery is using its dedicated yacht lift set, including a large spreader beam designed to minimise further damage to the hull.

On the day of the fire, witnesses said that the yacht’s forward hull burst into flames, and then the fire spread to the lower decks.
Two people believed to be crew members were rescued, both suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

It took 30 firefighters on site to tackle the blaze on the 41 metre superyacht, with reports of difficulty in accessing the stricken vessel. An anti-pollution barrier was placed around the yacht.
A spokesperson told Superyacht Times that if all goes according to plan, Sea Lady II, will float under her own buoyancy. Even so, the superyacht is expected to be scrapped.
