SailGP renews partnership with ePropulsion
Race day 2 of the ITM New Zealand Sail Grand Prix in Auckland, New Zealand, February 2026.
SailGP is extending its partnership with electric propulsion manufacturer ePropulsion, which has served as the race championship’s official electric outboard supplier for small craft since 2021.
Under the renewed agreement, ePropulsion will continue to supply electric outboard motors for SailGP’s fleet of small craft and support vessels, helping to reduce emissions across event operations while showcasing advanced clean propulsion technology on a global sporting stage.
SailGP head of impact Iona Neilson says: “Sport has a powerful role to play in accelerating real-world impact. Our partnership with ePropulsion allows us to demonstrate how electric propulsion can perform reliably in demanding environments, all while reducing emissions across our operations. By integrating clean technologies into the day-to-day running of SailGP, we aim to help drive broader adoption across the marine sector.”
ePropulsion co-founder and CEO Danny Tao says, “SailGP continues to set the standard for high-performance, purpose-driven sport, and we’re proud to be continuing our partnership. Working together has already delivered meaningful progress, and we’re excited to build on that momentum, driving further innovation in clean marine technology and supporting SailGP’s ambition for a more sustainable future on the water.”
Tao spoke with MIN at the launch of the Spirit 2 outboard last year, and hosted multiple product launches at January’s boot Düsseldorf.
Through its international race calendar and global broadcast reach, SailGP says the partnership continues to highlight how sustainable propulsion technologies can be integrated into elite sport operations.
The Rolex SailGP Championship returns in April, marking the league’s South American debut, the Enel Rio Sail Grand Prix, taking place on 11-12 April 2026.
