Saudi Red Sea Authority issues first marina licences

Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA), the official regulator of Red Sea coastal tourism, has issued the first three licences for tourist marina operators.
Licences have been issued to Al-Ahlam Marine in Jeddah and Jazan, and Red Sea Marina in Jeddah.
As Saudi continues to develop its marine tourism economy, SRSA says its mandate to issue licences and permits for navigational and marine tourism activities falls under the ‘Saudi Vision 2030’ to develop a thriving coastal tourism sector.
The new licences are designed to enhance the quality of services provided to tourists and visitors, preserve the marine environment and ensure sustainability, regulate the operating model of marine watercrafts, and enable coastal tourism.
SRSA has undertaken field visits to tourist marinas in Jeddah, Jazan, Al Laith and Yanbu to ensure compliance with international standards.
SRSA says the new licences are a ‘significant step’ towards the development of coastal tourism in Saudi Arabia, reflecting its commitment to enable navigational and marine tourism activities, by providing a suitable and safe environment for both local and international visitors, to make the Red Sea a leading global tourist destination.
