Smartgyro strengthens US push with new ComMar partnership
Smartgyro’s SG40
Smartgyro is sharpening its focus on the North American market with a new strategic partnership designed to bring its stabilisation technology closer to customers. By appointing ComMar as a manufacturers’ representative across key US regions, the company is signalling a more targeted, relationship-driven approach to growth in one of the world’s most competitive marine markets.
Smartgyro says that this strategy reflects its commitment to providing expert guidance, responsive support, and a more direct connection to the North American marine market.
A strategic shift in US sales channels
ComMar, with deep connections in the boating industry, will operate as a manufacturers’ representative, focused on promoting Smartgyro’s product portfolio and leveraging its extensive industry relationships to generate new business opportunities across the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast US, Southeast US and Gulf regions. Its strong relationships with boat builders and professional service yards will help expand awareness and reach for Smartgyro’s stabilisation solutions.
Expanding access to stabilisation technology
“Partnering with ComMar is a significant step forward for Smartgyro in the US market,” says Pieter Feenstra, sales director North-Europe, APAC and America at Smartgyro. “With their strong industry insight and trusted network, we are well positioned to expand our footprint and bring our advanced stabilisation technology to even more boat owners across the region.”
The idea is that ComMar will support the development of Smartgyro’s sales network, working closely with boat builders, dealers, and marine professionals. It’ll play a key role in expanding the reach of Smartgyro stabilisation technology.
Alessio Loguercio, Smartgyro’s MD, recently told MIN that the company’s looking at structured growth across both Europe and the United States, with a strong focus on developing long-term partnerships with leading OEMs and boatbuilders. “Stabilisation is increasingly becoming a standard feature rather than an optional upgrade, and shipyards are looking for solutions that combine performance, reliability, and ease of integration.”

Part of the broader Yanmar marine ecosystem
Smartgyro USA is based in Maryland where stock is maintained. The company makes advanced gyro stabilisers (for vessels 40 feet+) which it says are ideal for new builds and refit installations on recreational boats and light-duty commercial vessels. A key differentiator of its products is the ability to carry out maintenance and repairs directly onboard, including bearing replacement – eliminating the need for costly unit removal and shipping. Smartgyro is part of Yanmar’s Marine Recreational Business Unit which also includes Yanmar, Vetus, Maxwell, and Flexofold.
As competition intensifies in the stabilisation segment, partnerships like this underline a broader industry shift toward localisation and service-led growth. For Smartgyro, strengthening its presence on the ground in the US is not just about sales – it’s about embedding its technology more deeply within the networks that shape purchasing decisions across the marine sector.
