‘Superyacht Thursday’ to launch at boot Düsseldorf 2027
The Deutsche Yachten working group will launch ‘Superyacht Thursday powered by boot Düsseldorf’ on 28 January 2027, introducing a new event format for the international superyacht industry during boot Düsseldorf (23-31 January 2027).
The Deutsche Yachten working group comprises German companies involved in the construction and outfitting of yachts over 24 metres in length. The working group is part of the Verband Maritime Wirtschaft Deutschland, whose members include companies from the German yachting industry.
The group aims to increase international awareness of Germany as a business location and promote yacht building in the country. It currently comprises more than 60 companies from across Germany.
The day will begin before the exhibition opens with the Superyacht Breakfast, running from 8am to 10.30am. Organisers say around 100 invited guests are expected to attend. The breakfast will feature speakers from different areas of the industry and focus on refit, current developments, challenges and opportunities in the sector.
Confirmed speakers include Peter Hürzeler, CEO of Ocean Independence; yacht designer Katharina Raczek; Tim Schommer, partner at Noorden Jones; and marine PR professional Marcus Krall as moderator. Further speakers are expected to be announced in the coming months.
Following the English-language conference and panel discussions, the programme will move to a networking session. The format is intended to bring together shipyards, owners’ representatives, designers, service providers and other companies working in the superyacht sector.
In the afternoon, the programme will continue at the Deutsche Yachten stand with the ‘Meet Our Members’ session. Members of the working group will meet international visitors, business partners and other industry professionals, providing an opportunity for face-to-face discussions and business contacts.
The day will conclude with an evening reception at the Deutsche Yachten stand, which is traditionally located in Hall 7a. The reception will include live music and snacks.
Jörg Bubelach, chairman of the Deutsche Yachten working group within the German Maritime Industries Association (VMWD), says: “With the launch of the ‘Superyacht Thursday powered by boot Düsseldorf’, Deutsche Yachten is pursuing a clear strategic objective. We want to attract more owner’s representatives and shipyards that are not currently exhibiting at boot Düsseldorf and encourage them to visit the show. In doing so, we aim to further strengthen the event’s B2B profile and reinforce boot Düsseldorf’s position as a leading international platform for the global superyacht industry.”
Petros Michelidakis, director of boot Düsseldorf, adds: “The superyacht industry thrives on innovation, personal relationships and trusted partnerships. At the same time, there is growing demand for platforms where decision-makers can discuss the latest market developments and build meaningful business connections. ‘Superyacht Thursday powered by boot Düsseldorf’ has been created to meet exactly this need, combining high-quality content with outstanding networking opportunities in a dedicated industry format.”
Participation in “Superyacht Thursday powered by boot Düsseldorf” is by invitation from Deutsche Yachten and boot Düsseldorf. Industry professionals interested in attending can also pre-register by emailing hamburg@vmwd.org.
