Tonjo secures more than 500 Intelligent Cockpit orders
The platform provides voice control across the vessel
Shanghai-based marine technology company Tonjo is preparing to move its Intelligent Cockpit platform towards series production after securing orders for more than 500 units from multiple Chinese boatbuilders.
The first installation has been completed aboard the Allegro Yacht 62CAT, a catamaran priced by the builder at between US$2m and US$3.5m depending on configuration. The vessel is expected to launch shortly ahead of delivery.
Tonjo’s Intelligent Cockpit treats the vessel as one integrated platform. Built on a unified software architecture, it brings navigation, engine and systems monitoring, lighting, climate and entertainment together through a single interface.
“The automotive industry spent the past decade turning the cockpit into one system that runs the whole vehicle,” says Tonjo founder, Chenglun Zhang,
“We’re bringing that approach to boats – one system that runs the whole vessel, so its functions are easier to understand, access and control.”
The platform provides voice control across the vessel rather than limiting the function to individual systems such as media playback. Tonjo has also designed the software to receive regular releases after delivery.
The first installation aboard the Allegro Yacht 62CAT marks the company’s move beyond its initial project as it prepares for series production. Orders currently cover more than 500 units across multiple Chinese boatbuilders, providing the basis for the next stage of production.

From intelligent vehicles to intelligent vessels
Tonjo was founded by Zhang following ten years working in China’s intelligent vehicle industry. Its approximately 20-person team, based in Shanghai, has experience in automotive cockpit software, vehicle control systems and connected vehicle platforms.
Developing a complete cockpit platform traditionally requires significant investment in software development, which can be difficult to justify in the comparatively low-volume marine industry. Tonjo says its team’s previous experience developing similar technology for the automotive sector allows it to apply that knowledge to marine applications.
The Intelligent Cockpit has been developed as a configurable platform that can be adapted for different boat types and shipyards, rather than requiring a bespoke system for each project.
Tonjo marked its first anniversary in June 2026 and completed its seed funding round during the same month.

“Our focus now is on working with boatbuilders and technology partners to move towards series production while developing the platform for international markets,” adds Zhang.
Tonjo says it plans to launch the product more widely in China by the end of 2026.
The team is currently attending the Cannes Yachting Festival and will be at IBEX and Metstrade during the autumn show season to meet potential boatbuilding, propulsion, technology and distribution partners in Europe and North America.
