Williams Jet Tenders to highlight plastic waste at boot Düsseldorf
Tender manufacturer Williams Jet Tenders has commissioned UK-based startup Spared to clean and chip the plastic waste from its factory, transforming it into tabletops. Tables featuring the recycled material will be showcased at the upcoming boot Düsseldorf boat show (20-28 January 2024).
“We are conscious that exhibitions are among the worst sectors for the environment, and we are working hard to reduce our overall impact,” says Tom Dowdell, head of marketing at Williams Jet Tenders. “This collaboration with Spared is an example of our commitment and proves waste can be an opportunity to produce something extraordinary, rather than having to buy new.”
Spared, a start-up by design studio Volume Creative, focuses on reusing waste.
Spared says it aims to provide innovative solutions to address the global issue of 2.12bn tonnes of waste ending up in landfills each year.
“This collaboration with Williams is a testament to the transformative power of conscious initiatives,” says Callie Tedder-Hares, founding partner and creative director at Spared and Volume Creative.
“By repurposing plastic waste into stunning tabletops, we showcase the potential for waste to be spared from landfills and given another life as something beautiful.”
This marks the second project between Spared and Williams Jet Tenders. In a previous initiative, Williams utilised seafood shell waste to produce 50 marine-inspired plant pots.
