Work progresses on new boatshed, offices and workshops at Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour

Construction on the external structure of the new boatshed at Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour has been completed, marking a significant milestone in the £2m redevelopment project.

With the outer shell finished, attention has shifted to interior outfitting, preparing to open new waterfront offices and workshops in time for the 2025 summer season.

Externally, the windows and doors are being installed and sealed and work is underway on external ramps and guttering, set to be completed this month. Meanwhile, concrete flooring is being laid inside the boatshed as preparation begins for fitting out five offices and two meeting rooms. These spaces will offer an improved working environment for marine-based businesses.

A workshop unit designed to accommodate the full height of a boat is also being developed. Two additional insulated bays, equipped with roller shutter doors, will be dedicated to boatyard services. The boatyard operates with an open-yard policy, allowing berth and mooring holders to bring their own contractors for a small fee or select from an approved list of suppliers.

To support customers’ storage needs, a double stack of lockers has been extended at the rear of the boatshed. A smooth access path is also being laid to facilitate the movement of trolleys and maintenance equipment. The redevelopment also includes a new marina shop and chandlery.

The new facilities will cater to the needs of the marina’s 200 fully-serviced walk-ashore pontoon berths, 300 river moorings, and over 10,000 annual visitors.

Interested parties are invited to submit expressions of interest for the office and workshop spaces. Preference will be given to tenants offering value-added services for boat owners. Letting terms include parking, a communal kitchen, electricity, and Wi-Fi (subject to service charges), with office lets also offering access to meeting rooms and the option of a secure leased line share for guaranteed bandwidth.
