X Shore ‘back and fully operational’ with new ownership

Swedish electric boatbuilder X Shore has secured new ownership, with the firm once again fully operational after its bankruptcy.

The firm filed for bankruptcy in January 2026, after getting into financial difficulties in October 2025 when its production arm – X Shore Production AB – filed for bankruptcy.

In January, Norwegian investor Staale Reiersen acquired X Shore Production AB, along with around 20 X Shore boats, via an auction site. At the time, Reiersen revealed plans to restart production with a focus on battery-powered propulsion.

In a fresh statement made yesterday (22 April 2026), the company confirms it is now back in business. Production at the X Shore facility in Nyköping is fully operational, and deliveries are underway, according to the firm.

“New ownership is in place and are a focused organisation with the financial backing needed to move forward properly,” says René Hansen, chief executive of X Shore. “This period has been about stabilising the business, now the focus is on execution.

“We are building on what has already been proven, and addressing what needed to be fixed.”
