Yamaha Motor forms alliance with Finval Boats

Yamaha Motor Europe has signed a five-year partnership with fishing boat builder, Finval Boats. This will see the Ukranian brand’s export fleet rigged exclusively with Yamaha outboard engines until 2026.

In addition to the 80hp, 70hp and 60hp outboards from the mid power segment, those outboards will include high power models from 200hp to 90hp, as well as outboards up to and including the lightweight and ultra-smooth 300hp V6 of the premium range.

Yamaha sasy its VMAX SHO outboards are specifically engineered to excel on lightweight performance boats, like the finely tuned marine grade, German aluminium platforms of the Finval range. Built for tournament anglers, they offer ‘outstanding hole-shot and fierce throttle response right across the rev range – even when fully loaded with a large crew or a day’s worth of fishing gear’, says Yamaha.

Founded by Igor in 2008 in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, Finval builds tough, lightweight aluminium fishing boats with rough-water ability. The brand’s local cruising grounds have had a fundamental impact on the way the boats are designed and built.

“In Ukraine, especially in the Dnieper River Basin, there are large reservoirs that are rich in fish,” says Surdu. “It’s a favourite place for fishermen but it’s also quite common to see waves of two metres in height, so our main goal is to create boats that allow fishermen to feel safe and comfortable, whatever the weather.”

“Finval builds fast, sporting fishing boats that deliver an extra level of luxury and comfort without compromising that ingrained respect for toughness and durability,” says Fabrice Lacoume, marine director of Yamaha Motor Europe. “We are committed to empowering the customer by applying new technological innovation in the direct pursuit of a better on-water experience. With Finval, their customers are our customers, and their ethos shares a very practical overlap with our own – and that’s something we’re very comfortable with at Yamaha.”
