Hill Dickinson and Alley Maass form global superyacht law alliance

Maritime law firms Hill Dickinson and Alley Maass have established a formal alliance to expand their global reach and provide clients with broader legal expertise in the superyacht sector.
Hill Dickinson, headquartered in the UK, has a maritime law practice with over 120 specialists operating across key shipping hubs. Alley Maass, based in Florida, US, has more than 30 years of experience in maritime law, advising clients on matters related to the purchase, sale and construction of recreational vessels worldwide.
The alliance enables Alley Maass and its clients to access Hill Dickinson’s superyacht and maritime expertise in the firm’s offices in the UK, Monaco, Piraeus, Hong Kong and Singapore. In turn, Hill Dickinson gains reciprocal access to Alley Maass’ expertise in the US, Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands and Marshall Islands.
The firms say the new alliance offers a comprehensive legal service for the superyacht sector, covering sale and purchase, new construction, finance, insurance, design, management, structuring, crewing, refit and charter.
Panos Pourgourides, head of yachts at Hill Dickinson, says: “Our newly formed alliance comes at an exciting time for the superyacht market, which remains a highly active sector. The yacht team at Hill Dickinson has an impressive track record working on some of the most prestigious superyacht projects of the last three decades. This alliance will serve to elevate our work further by giving us direct access to the best-in-class maritime experts across the Atlantic.”
Tony Allen, yacht team partner at Hill Dickinson, adds: “Bringing together the two market leading superyacht practices represents an exciting development for our firms and our respective clients. The combined offering will create an unparalleled platform from which to provide superyacht owners and the superyacht community as a whole with the best possible service.”
Robb R Maass, head of the maritime department at Alley Maass, comments: “We have long thought that our clients would benefit from the ability to offer a range of services across multiple jurisdictions. With this alliance, and our associated firms in the Cayman Islands, we can now do that seamlessly and at a very high level.
“We’ve always had the greatest respect for Hill Dickinson’s yacht practice and very much look forward to working with them in a close, coordinated way.
“We are confident that the combined geographic reach, industry contacts, and breadth of knowledge and experience of this alliance will provide unmatched advantages to our respective clients and will be transformative in the superyacht legal sector.”
In February, Hill Dickinson strengthened its global presence through a new strategic alliance with the Marshall Islands-based Reeder Simpson & Magee (RSM), expanding its offshore legal services capabilities.
