London’s floating cinema returns to Regent’s Canal

A floating cinema is set to return to London’s Merchant Square this summer.

The Openaire Float-in will run for four weeks from June 2.

Guests take a 45-minute meander along the Regent’s Canal and through Little Venice in GoBoats (which are electric), before mooring in Merchant Square. One hundred waterside deckchairs will also be available.

The line-up of films includes Pulp Fiction, Jaws and the Dark Knight, as well as Bridget Jones’ Diary and Hook, which celebrate their 20th and 30th anniversaries, respectively. Other old favourites include Notting Hill, Pretty Woman and Dirty Dancing and there’ll be sing-along nights for Bohemian Rhapsody, Grease, The Greatest Showman and The Sound of Music.

The month-long event, which is held in partnership with Häagen-Dazs (the company which also sponsored the Paris float-in cinema which Marine Industry News reported on last summer), will offer ice cream and other food and drink, which can be ordered via app and will be delivered directly to the boats.

Tickets start at £17.50 for deckchair seats, with boats seating eight costing £240.
