Blue Wake Award winners 2025 Monaco Yacht Show

The Monaco Yacht Show, which kicks off today (24 September 2025) has announced the five winners of the inaugural Blue Wake Awards, revealed yesterday during the show’s grand ppening night at Le Méridien Beach Plaza in Monaco.

The ceremony hosted 400 guests, including Monaco officials, exhibitors from the Blue Wake programme, sponsors, private clients and representatives from the yachting industry.

Four companies and one yacht exhibited at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show were recognised for their sustainable solutions in the superyacht sector.

The awards, which highlight developments in yacht design, engineering and the on-board experience, were created with the support of the Water Revolution Foundation as part of the show’s wider Blue Wake programme — designed to highlight the Monaco Yacht Show’s growing focus on environmental responsibility in the yachting industry.

Nominees were evaluated across four environmental categories, with submissions reviewed by the Water Revolution Foundation. Claims were supported by data and, where possible, third-party verification. Shortlisted entries were voted on by the jury, which selected the winners.

TYKUN received recognition in the tenders and water toys category for its H1 hydrogen propulsion system. Designed in Italy and ready for production, the system combines performance with reduced environmental impact.

Tai Ping was recognised in the luxury products and services category for its Biophilic Programme, a line of rugs made from undyed, biodegradable fibres including wool, silk, flax and jute. The programme reduces water use by 60 per cent and energy consumption by 85 per cent by eliminating the dyeing process, while also lowering carbon emissions.

Deasyl earned distinction in the nautical supplier category for its Sustainable Yachting Fuel, which is produced through low-energy green chemistry processes. The fuel reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 93 per cent compared to conventional marine fuels.

Sanlorenzo received recognition in the refit and builder shipyard category for introducing the first superyacht with Reformer Fuel Cell systems, developed with Siemens Energy. The system uses hydrogen from green methanol to provide up to 100kW of emission-free electricity at anchor, lowering annual emissions by 20–30 per cent.

Silver Yachts also received the Special Jury Award for its catamaran Reduce. The vessel is built entirely in aluminium for recyclability and features a low-resistance hull by Espen Oeino International. Its design improves fuel efficiency and range while reducing environmental impact through the use of recycled and recyclable materials.

Gaëlle Tallarida, managing director of the Monaco Yacht Show, says: “With the Blue Wake Awards, we are sending a clear message: environmental sustainability is not a side topic — it’s becoming central to innovation in yachting. These winners demonstrate how credible, high-impact solutions are already shaping the industry’s future. We also extend our sincere thanks to the members of the jury for their expertise and dedicated time in evaluating and supporting the voting process. Congratulations to all the winners for their outstanding contributions to a more eco-sustainable yachting industry.”

Robert van Tol, executive director of the Water Revolution Foundation, adds: “This year’s submissions reflect tangible progress in how the yachting sector progresses towards increased sustainability. Our role at the Water Revolution Foundation has been to ensure that every solution is evaluated rigorously, fairly, and with scientific grounding. The winners have not only met these standards but set a benchmark for what credible, high-impact innovation looks like in our industry. We congratulate them for leading the way toward a more sustainable future in yachting.”

The winners were selected by an international jury composed of: Gaëlle Tallarida, managing director of the Monaco Yacht Show; Norberto Barlocco, project development at Siemens Energy; Lucy Dunn, content director at Boat International; Dr Vienna Eleuteri, initiator and vice chair of the Water Revolution Foundation; Philippe Mondielli, scientific director of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation; Sara-Jane Skinner, head of partnerships at the Blue Marine Foundation; Francesca Webster, editor-in-chief of SuperYacht Times.

The Monaco Yacht Show is a four-day event that will showcase a fleet of 120 superyachts — nearly half of which are 2025 premieres. There will also be 60 luxury tenders on display.
