New Evene superyacht tenders opt for Navicork cork decking

Following careful analysis, the new Evene Tenders’ Origin Series is using Navicork decking — a cork decking alternative to traditional teak.

The new Evene Tenders were unveiled earlier this month from renowned British builder Williams Jet Tenders.

“The launch of Origin 57 with cork decks is part of our strategy to use more sustainable materials and production methods. The test results were fantastic. We were impressed by the lightness of the product and its ability to maintain a pleasant temperature in the sun”, says Oliver Browne, head of product development at Evene Tenders.

Cork decking is light, and its thermal and acoustic insulation offers a superior onboard experience, keeping temperatures cooler and reducing structural noise.

João Pedro Azevedo, CEO of Amorim Cork Solutions, emphasises that “cork is not just an alternative – it is a natural evolution for a nautical industry that wants to be more efficient and ecologically responsible”, reflecting the company’s commitment to providing high-performance technical solutions with a strong focus on sustainability.

Cork decking as an alternative

Navicork FD01 is a cork decking solution developed by Amorim Cork Solutions specifically for marine environments.

One of cork’s most compelling competitive advantages is its positive environmental footprint, says Amorim. It is a 100 per cent natural, renewable, and recyclable material, harvested without cutting down trees.

According to Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies conducted by the independent entity ITECONS[1], Navicork FD01 delivers a negative carbon footprint, with verified values of -0.97 kg CO₂ eq./m² (6 mm) and -0.69 kg CO₂ eq./m² (8 mm), from raw material extraction to the factory gate.

According to the manufacturer, from an operational perspective, cork’s lightness was a decisive factor. Compared to options like teak, cork can be two to five times lighter, contributing to a significant reduction in overall tender weight.
