Superyacht brokerage and management company, Ocean Independence is expanding its network and adding a location in the United Arab Emirates to its portfolio.

Ocean Independence, headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland, has opened its new office in Dubai. With 15 offices around the globe – including Fort Lauderdale, Monaco and Auckland – the company’s 16th office will be located on the waterfront at the prestigious Dubai Harbour Marina.

The company has made this strategic move ahead of the upcoming Dubai International Boat Show.

Experienced broker Sebastian Dumitrescu will act as group director Ocean Independence Dubai with immediate effect. Peter Hürzeler, CEO of Ocean Independence, says: “It is very important for us to have a local presence in the markets that are important in the yachting business. The culture, the language, the so-called ‘reading between the lines’ can only be offered by someone who has been present in this market for a long time. Dubai is definitely a rapidly developing hub in superyachting. We expect a lot from our presence.”

Dumitrescu, new group director Dubai at Ocean Independence, comments on the new operation: “Ocean Independence is one of the world’s leading brokerage houses and I am very proud to have been given the trust of the company. Dubai and the entire United Arab Emirates are a very important market in yachting, which I will serve in the best possible way with and for Ocean Independence. I see great potential in every business area, be it sales, charter or management.”

Hürzeler adds: “The Arabian region was still missing from our office network, even though we have already concluded numerous deals in the region and have a good network. However, being able to gain a local partner like Sebastian Dumitrescu will take our presence to a new level. I am very pleased with the extremely professional set-up and look forward with confidence to our first joint appearance at the Dubai International Boat Show.”
