Lionel Messi orders Sunreef Ultima 88
MIM Ocean is a luxury catamaran charter fleet created by Lionel Messi in partnership with Med Cat Yachts
Lionel Messi has ordered a Sunreef Ultima 88 catamaran, now under construction at the company’s shipyard in the UAE.
It will join MIM Ocean, a luxury yacht charter fleet based in the Balearic Islands, created through a partnership between the footballer’s MIM Hotels brand and Med Cat Yachts.
Messi joins other athletes among Sunreef’s owners and a wider group of brand ambassadors the company calls the House of Sunreef. These include Rafael Nadal, Fernando Alonso, Nico Rosberg, Carlos Alcaraz and Robert Lewandowski. Sunreef Yachts does not currently feature any prominent sportswomen as formal brand ambassadors.

On board, the yacht will have four guest cabins and a full-beam master suite. Sunreef Yachts’ Ocean Lounge provides space close to the water for swimming and water sports, as well as relaxing with sea views.
A dedicated jetski garage will keep equipment within reach. Outdoor lounging areas and a flybridge provide room for leisure and fitness. The yacht will be powered by twin 1,000hp engines.

Argentine footballer Messi, who recently retired from international duty, already spends time at sea with his family. A quote issued by Sunreef in a media statement, which it attributes to the megastar, says: “It’s a real pleasure to join the Sunreef family. My family and I have always loved spending time at sea whenever we get the chance.
“Sunreef Yachts have the style and features I really like, and they’re a perfect fit for what I’m looking for. I’m really looking forward to experiencing the Ultima 88 and enjoying it with my family.”
Founded in 2002, Sunreef designs and builds customised sailing yachts, power catamarans and superyachts at its shipyards in Poland and the UAE. The company introduced what it describes as the world’s first luxury catamaran with a flybridge. Its development work also covers electric propulsion and solar technology, alongside other energy systems.
