Stephen Joyce will take up the role of project manager to lead Brisbane 2032 Marine Project – a multi-year initiative set to transform Queensland and the wider South Pacific into a leading global superyacht destination.

This project will take place in the lead-up to, during and far beyond the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Superyacht Australia announced Joyce’s appointment, highlighting his three decades of extensive leadership experience across government, private and not-for-profit sectors. Joyce has extensive experience in strategic project delivery, financial management, business development and organisational leadership.

The foundation for the Brisbane 2032 Marine Project was established in 2022, when Superyacht Australia commissioned AEC Group to undertake an economic impact assessment of the Australian superyacht sector, including a forward-looking analysis of opportunities associated with the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Superyacht facilities are growing in the region. MIN announced The Boat Works is expanding again with marine showrooms and multi-level marine office space. In the wider marine market, Riviera announced in September 2025 a record shipment of 15 of its motor yachts left the Port of Brisbane.
