Wolz Nautic acquires alternative decking maker Tesumo
Tesumo was developed as part of a research project conducted by Lürssen shipyard and the German University of Göttingen
Deutsche Yachten member Wolz Nautic has acquired all shares in marine decking manufacturer Tesumo GmbH & Co. KG.
Custom yacht decking specialist, Wolz Nautic, says combining the two Germany-based businesses will support product development, broader services and quicker delivery of new products.
Tesumo supplies decking for superyachts, smaller yachts and production yachts made from West African hardwood Limba. The firm states its decking has been used on vessels including 35m superyacht Fox, 69m fossil-free Vitters yacht Project Zero, Alibaba, now known as Dragonfly, and the 195-metre research and expedition vessel REV Ocean. Other projects have been subject to non-disclosure agreements.
Tesumo, which was developed as part of a research project conducted by Lürssen shipyard and the German University of Göttingen, claims its decking is made only from “sustainably cultivated wood obtained from politically harmless regions.”
The production process begins with thermal conditioning in autoclaves using heat and pressure, followed by resin impregnation under pressure, a chilling and curing cycle of up to ten days, and full traceability through barcoded planks.
“The acquisition of Tesumo is an important milestone in our company’s development,” explains Michael Wolz, Managing Director of Wolz Nautic GmbH & Co. KG. “We look forward to combining the strengths of both companies and jointly setting new trends for our customers and the market.”
Wolz Nautic says existing customer relationships, contacts and locations will remain unchanged after the acquisition. It adds that the focus will be on transition planning, product development, internal processes and market presence.
The company operates two production sites in Germany, employs 110 staff and reported turnover of around €16.4m in 2025.
The Deutsche Yachten working group includes German companies involved in the construction and outfitting of superyachts over 24 metres lomg. It is part of Verband Maritime Wirtschaft Deutschland. The group currently includes more than 60 companies based across Germany.
